Nature Poem

Change.

Green.
With some brown here and there,
But mostly green.
Fall is coming.
Sooner than we had hoped.
The sun is still bright,
But getting cooler.
The ground is as wet and cold as my dog’s nose.
You can hear the crunch of the frost as you walk along.
*Crunch, crunch crunch.*

White.
All I see is white,
And I know then, that it is winter.
It all changed so fast.
I barely had time to take a breath.
The sun is now cold,
But I catch a ray of warmth here and there.
Inside, I curl up in front of the fire.
It is warm enough to put me asleep,
But it is not the same as summer.
I sit inside and dream of the next change.

Luscious green vegetation.
Warm yellow sun.
Crystal blue skies.
Summer.

Clean face

Hey all!  I was given an assignment to write a diamond poem about my blog.  Here it is!  Comments please!

Clean face
 Smooth, flawed
Washing, scrubbing, cleansing
Cheeks, lips, eyes, mouth
Fixing, primping, perfecting
Beautiful, unblemished
Make up

Finding a Brighter Day.

Hey all!  Check out my new piece I just wrote.  Comments please!

Finding a Brighter Day

When you are a young child, you feel small and naive and you search for someone to hold on to that is bigger and gives a sense of security.  This person is usually a close family member or even a caretaker.  You look up to them, follow their every move, yearn to be just like them, and never want to be away from them.  They are always around you, playing and caring for you, and when they are gone you constantly ask, “Where is she/he?”
Both of my parents worked when I was little so I had to stay with a babysitter or a family member.  I hated my babysitter, but then again, most kids do not like their babysitters.  She would make me take naps and eat all of my lunch before I could run and play outside.  I could not wait for the return of my mom, but on those special days when my aunt could watch me, I did not want my mom to come back to pick me up.
My aunt Andy was a beautiful woman.  She was tall and thin, and her flawless porcelain skin looked great with her short dark hair.  Aunt Andy was perfect in my eyes, and I loved her to death.  We would play games and visit the horses together.  We would go and buy a big bag of carrots to feed them.  She would always let me play with the blue Play Doh on their big dining room table, and for snack she would always give me a clementine.  I hated the white part so she would sit there with me and pick it off.  She would do anything for me.
On a beautiful sunny day in June 2000, we got the call.  She was on her way to teach and got hit by a truck that ran a red light.  My little brother and I were supposed to spend the weekend at my uncle and her’s house while our parents went away.  I was too young to comprehend what had happened; all I knew was that we were on our way to the hospital.  When we got there she was already on life support.  My uncle and grandparents were all there, crying and praying.  I remember wanting to play with the stuffed bear that was lying beside her, but all they told me was no.  It was not until August when they finally let her go.  She was gone forever, and I would never see her again until that day came for me.
A few years later, my uncle moved to Michigan where he began seeing his current wife.  She had lost her husband in a rescue mission and had three boys.  They got married in Canada where her and her boys were originally from and we were all invited.  I was not sure how I felt about obtaining a new aunt, it would change everything.  After the wedding, my new aunt and cousins moved with my uncle back to Pennsylvania.  That only lasted a few years and after my uncle received his degree in ministry, they moved back to Michigan, permanently.
In the time they lived only 20 minutes away from my home, I discovered I adored my new aunt just as much as I loved aunt Andy.  I was sad to see them leave and go back to Michigan, but my grandparents told me that we would take a family vacation every summer so we could see each other.
Even though I lost my idol, I was happy I get to learn more about my new aunt.  She is just as beautiful and compassionate as aunt Andy was.  I will always miss and think about her, but they both did or will play important roles in my life and nothing can replace them or the memories.  I might have lost an important person in my life, but I gained another one and could not be happier.

Simple Two-Color Nail Art

Simple two-color nail art.

This design is a great one to start out with if you are not experienced.  you can use these basics for more intricate designs.  You can either use this on your real nails or on fake ones like the picture above shows you.

  1. First you want to pick out two coordinating colors and put on a coat of the lighter color and give it time to dry.
  2. Next you find a piece of durable tape and put it on your nail where you want to split up the colors.  For example, you can do it in a diagonal like the picture above, or straight up and down.
  3. Then you put a coat of the darker color over the light color.  Apply as many coats as you need so the under color does not show.
  4. Let them dry and enjoy!!

The Waterfall Braid

The water fall braid is becoming popular with the young generation.  This braid is easy to do and can be done many different ways.

One way to do this braid is by braiding back the side of your hair that has your part.

  1. The first thing you do is section off a chuck of hair and braid it over three times starting with the piece closest to you part.
  2. Then you add a strand of hair from the top (just like a French braid) and add it to your braid.
  3. Once you added that strand to your braid, you drop it down and pick up another strand close to the braid to make up for the piece you dropped.  You continue braiding and only picking up from the top.
  4. Once you get to the end of your braid, you can tie it off with a small rubber band or bobbie pin it.
Below is a tutorial.

After your waterfall braid is done, you can either keep your hair straight, or dress it up by curling the strands like this:

Another way to perform the waterfall braid, is a waterfall head band.

  1. First you section off hair running from one ear to the other.
  2. Then you decide which side off your head you want the braid to start on
  3. You do the same process as you did in the steps above until you reach your other ear
  4. When you finish the braid, you can bobbie pin it behind your ear or continue the braid and tie it off with a small rubber band.
  5. Then you can leave your hair down, or pull it back into a messy bun, a regular bun or just a pony tail.
I hope you all enjoy!

Simple French Braid

    The Simple French Braid

This picture above is just a simple French braid straight back.  This is the braid I learned first and it helped me with the plethora of styles out in the world.  The braid only takes about 3 to 5 minutes to complete.  It works well as a sporty look for games or you can dress it up with long earrings.  It is better to practice on other people than yourself so you can get the technique of it.  Once you get the hang of a simple French braid you can be more creative about where you decide to put the braid.

1.        You first step is to section off a piece of hair in the front.  (Like a ¼ of the way back.)

2.       After you have the front of your hair sectioned off, you separate it into 3 equal pieces.  You then take those three pieces and do a regular braid 3 times.  Make sure that you are braiding over NOT under!

3.       Once you have the braid started, you pick up a strand of hair from the side and add it to the strand of the hair on the top of the braid.

4.       You continue to braid and alternate adding strands of hair from the sides to the braid until you get to the end of your hair or where ever you want to stop.

5.       You can stop your braid half way down your head and pull it into a pony tail or even a bun.  Also you can braid it down to the end of your head and put it into a low pony tail or low bun.  I hope this helps you understand the basics of a simple French braid!  Enjoy!
