The Waterfall Braid

The water fall braid is becoming popular with the young generation.  This braid is easy to do and can be done many different ways.

One way to do this braid is by braiding back the side of your hair that has your part.

  1. The first thing you do is section off a chuck of hair and braid it over three times starting with the piece closest to you part.
  2. Then you add a strand of hair from the top (just like a French braid) and add it to your braid.
  3. Once you added that strand to your braid, you drop it down and pick up another strand close to the braid to make up for the piece you dropped.  You continue braiding and only picking up from the top.
  4. Once you get to the end of your braid, you can tie it off with a small rubber band or bobbie pin it.
Below is a tutorial.

After your waterfall braid is done, you can either keep your hair straight, or dress it up by curling the strands like this:

Another way to perform the waterfall braid, is a waterfall head band.

  1. First you section off hair running from one ear to the other.
  2. Then you decide which side off your head you want the braid to start on
  3. You do the same process as you did in the steps above until you reach your other ear
  4. When you finish the braid, you can bobbie pin it behind your ear or continue the braid and tie it off with a small rubber band.
  5. Then you can leave your hair down, or pull it back into a messy bun, a regular bun or just a pony tail.
I hope you all enjoy!

Simple French Braid

    The Simple French Braid

This picture above is just a simple French braid straight back.  This is the braid I learned first and it helped me with the plethora of styles out in the world.  The braid only takes about 3 to 5 minutes to complete.  It works well as a sporty look for games or you can dress it up with long earrings.  It is better to practice on other people than yourself so you can get the technique of it.  Once you get the hang of a simple French braid you can be more creative about where you decide to put the braid.

1.        You first step is to section off a piece of hair in the front.  (Like a ¼ of the way back.)

2.       After you have the front of your hair sectioned off, you separate it into 3 equal pieces.  You then take those three pieces and do a regular braid 3 times.  Make sure that you are braiding over NOT under!

3.       Once you have the braid started, you pick up a strand of hair from the side and add it to the strand of the hair on the top of the braid.

4.       You continue to braid and alternate adding strands of hair from the sides to the braid until you get to the end of your hair or where ever you want to stop.

5.       You can stop your braid half way down your head and pull it into a pony tail or even a bun.  Also you can braid it down to the end of your head and put it into a low pony tail or low bun.  I hope this helps you understand the basics of a simple French braid!  Enjoy!
